Has everyone seen this NYT article on the perils of MySpace? They should. MySpace is dangerous, especially for idiots, and being that this blog is a blog about wanting to blog and the philosophical ramifications of the possible effects of blogging and having an internet presence, I thought I'd pop it in this oven. My personal feelings are that MySpace and the internet are places that an individual goes to- like a cocktail party, a work luncheon or an art museum. It is fine to go there and there is nothing at all wrong with doing just that. It's just not okay to go there naked and it's not okay to tell everyone there that you like to "blow things up." (see NYT article.) Anyway. The culture will catch on as friendships and professional connections are forged, more and more often, on the internet. (break from intended tone of blog post-) Funny that I write this, as I struggle to refine the voice of this blog (or whatever new home on the internet I hope it to find-)- writing about the possible cons of writing on the internet while nonetheless writing on the internet could be seen as hypocritical (and logistically quite twisted) by some employers!
