Email To Self

I was cleaning my email inbox and I found this, which I'd emailed to myself:

eclecticism in design and music mixes, dj-ing, contemporary culture and attitudes toward mood disorders and moodiness, an addiction to highly variegated moods

--

I guess I had some idea that eclecticism was the cultural basis for Attention Deficit Disorder and the subsequent Emo persona. The general cultural acceptance of mood disorders today is only possible because of the indecisive nature of conceptual art and music since the 1980's; Madonna remakes herself because tried and trusted can no longer hold the attention of the audience. "Think Different" (Apple) has become our societal mantra, so naturally this mindset spills over to our actual thoughts, and what we can accept as normal versus aberrant thinking.

In the 90's, Nike dropped "Just Do It" because of AIDS.
